SUMMARY:December 2025 Open Training
DESCRIPTION:Register\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n In this month’s training\, which takes place exactly 24 hours prior to the Winter Solstice\, we will explore some traditional stories of the solstice and create work that celebrates the lengthening of days as we head towards spring. Please plan to bring one song that helps lift your spirits when the days are at their darkest (this need not be holiday music and better not be a certain song by Wham!). Come dressed to move as we will use traditional tales as a launching off point for the generation of movement sequences. Join us for a morning of exploration led by Artistic Director Matt Cahoon. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Training is an integral part of theatre KAPOW’s work: acting\, movement\, improvisation\, voice\, speech\, object work\, viewpoints\, and more. Company members have trained with Double Edge Theatre Company\, the Michael Chekhov Studio\, Shakespeare & Company\, The Atlantic Acting School and SITI Company\, and draw on these techniques and methods for their work. \nTraining is open to everyone 16 and older\, with any level of experience or none. Participants should come comfortably dressed to move (no jeans). Arrive 15 minutes early to check in and stretch. \nWater bottle recommended! Pay what you will! \n \n Register

SUMMARY:October 2025 Open Training
DESCRIPTION:Register\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Join us for a morning of exploration led by Guest Artist Andrew Codispoti.  In this workshop we’ll explore techniques for ensemble building\, physical theatre\, nonverbal communication\, and instinctive shared movement. The tools we’ll focus on have been used in “quick-raise” processes for very-fast (2-5 day) production of Shakespeare plays\, specifically to quickly build the sense of ensemble that Shakespeare’s company would have had after years of working together. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Training is an integral part of theatre KAPOW’s work: acting\, movement\, improvisation\, voice\, speech\, object work\, viewpoints\, and more. DESCRIPTION:Register\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n As actors we often work to “get into” character. But what if we allow the character to get into us? Beginning with the space around us\, and playing with objects\, we can arrive at an imagination of character without limits. Bring a favorite stuffed animal. \nJoin us for a morning of exploration and experimentation led by company member Peter Josephson. Training is an integral part of theatre KAPOW’s work: acting\, movement\, improvisation\, voice\, speech\, object work\, viewpoints\, and more. Company members have trained with Double Edge Theatre Company\, the Michael Chekhov Studio\, Shakespeare & Company\, The Atlantic Acting School and SITI Company\, and draw on these techniques and methods for their work. \nPay what you will! \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Training is an integral part of theatre KAPOW’s work: acting\, movement\, improvisation\, voice\, speech\, object work\, viewpoints\, and more.
