Meet the company of The Penelopiad:

Carey Cahoon (Penelope) was seen last season with tKAPOW in as Annie Cannon in Silent Sky and Bridget in Translations. For tKAPOW’s 2017 production of Living in Exile as Briseis she won the NH Theatre Award for Best Actress. She also won the 2017 NH Theatre Award for Best Actress as Queen Marguerite in Exit the King, and in 2014 for her roles in tKAPOW’s 3-person Macbeth. Other favorite roles include Sarah Goodwin in Time Stands Still, Cassandra in Agamemnon, Julie in Miss Julie, Hedda Tesman in Hedda Gabler, Jessie in ‘night, Mother, and the Pilot in Grounded. Carey has also performed, directed or designed with Glass Dove Productions, Boston Playwright’s Platform, Stage One Productions, the Palace Theatre, and the Anselmian Abbey Players. She holds a BA in Classics from St. Anselm College, and trained at the Atlantic Acting School, Shakespeare & Company, and with SITI Company. careycahoon.com

Emma Cahoon (Maid) just began her senior year at Pinkerton Academy and is thrilled to be working with tKAPOW again. She has previously appeared in tKAPOW’s The Burial at Thebes as Tiresias’ Boy, Translations as Sarah and As it is in Heaven as Izzy. Emma has performed in numerous shows with the Pinkerton Players including The Laramie Project, Little Women: The Musical, Anything Goes and more, as well as being on the club’s elected office, this year as president, since her freshman year. Emma has also just started her thirteenth year of formal dance training at New Hampshire Academie of Dance and is continuing to take vocal lessons. Alongside her work with tKAPOW, Emma trained with the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in an acting intensive this past summer. She is very excited for The Penelopiad to be the kick off of her final year in this chapter of her theater career.

Gina Carballo (Maid/Helen) is a proud board member with tKAPOW and is happy to be joining them on stage for Season 12. Past tKAPOW credits include The Illusion, Penelope, Time Stands Still, and Lungs. Gina has been performing in Professional and Community Theatre throughout NH and MA for over fifteen years and has had the pleasure of performing with M&D Playhouse, The Winnipesauke Playhouse, Stage One Productions, Yellow Taxi Productions, Boston Playwright’s Platform, and Actors Collective Theatre to name a few. Gina is the former President, of the New Hampshire Theatre Alliance and is currently the Co-Producer of the New Hampshire Theatre Awards. Gina is currently training in the Chekhov Method at the Actors Studio in Boston. Gina lives Cambridge, MA with her husband Justin Voshell and their 2 very bad dogs Sterling and Bronson. Ok, only one is bad.

Jamie Clavet (Maid/Antinous) is an actress, director, producer currently residing in Southern New Hampshire. She has performed in theatres from Portland to Boston and is honored to be adding a theatre KAPOW production to her list. Roles she has played include Maggie in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Ruth in Blythe Spirit, Titania in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Celia in As You Like It, to name a few. Jamie is the co-founder and director of theatre.unmasked in Dover, NH.  She is overjoyed and humbled to be working with such an open and creative ensemble of actors in this show. She hopes you enjoy this unique and challenging theatre experience as much as she has.

Teddi May Kennick-Bailey (Maid/Naiad) is honored to join tKAPOW for Season 12.  Teddi is a NH-based theatre artist, actress, and yoga instructor. Recent credits include Myrrah in Metamorphoses, Shelby in Steel Magnolias, and Mary Warren in The Crucible, for which she was nominated for Best Supporting Actress by New Hampshire Spotlight On The Arts.  She performed and toured as a principle member of improv group Dorks in Dungeons for three years, and co-stared in the movie Tuesday Morning (Roundtable Pictures) which premiered at the New Hampshire Film Festival.  In 2017 Teddi collaborated with New Hampshire Theatre Project to create the Elephant-In-The-Room Series, a performance and panel-discussion mash-up, aiming to start conversations about difficult topics and affect social change. Gearing up for the Season 3 tour, Teddi looks forward to expanding the series and reaching new audiences. See Teddi next on stage with tKAPOW in the ARTiculate Playreading Series, performing As It Is In Heaven at the Currier Museum of Art on November 10.

Rachael Chapin Longo (Maid/Eurycleia) received her BS in Theater from Skidmore College and her MA in Educational Theatre from NYU.  She is an actor, director and theatre arts educator.  Rachael has dedicated herself to educational theatre and arts administration and has worked as a professional teaching artist and education director; creating curriculum and teaching classes in acting, directing, playwriting and movement.  Her directing credits include The Wizard of Oz, The Laramie Project, The Death of a Caterpillar, West Side Story, The Tempest, South Pacific, Sister Act, Singin’ in the Rain and Silent Sky.  Acting credits include The Importance of Being Earnest, The Crucible, Desdemona, Mr. Burns: A Post Electric Play and Burial at Thebes.  Rachael has taught with The New Victory Theatre, Pelham Arts Center and Lighthouse Youth Arts Center.  She served as the Director of Education and Operations Manager for The Play Group Theatre in White Plains, NY for several years.  Rachael is currently an adjunct professor of acting and theater arts in the Visual and Performing Arts Department at Merrimack College as well as the Studio Manager at Esh Circus Arts.  She is a proud company member of theatre KAPOW.

Sheree Owens (Maid/Laertes/Telemachus)  is happy to be back for her third show with tKAPOW, having appeared in Melancholy Play: A Chamber Musical and Mr Burns: A Post-Electric Play. Other recent credits include the title role in Amelia (Good JoB Productions) and Logainne Schwartzandgrubenierre in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Hatbox Theatre). Sheree lives in Concord and works in development and programming at the Capitol Center for the Arts/Bank of New Hampshire Stage.

Katherine Proulx (Maid/Odysseus)is so very excited to be back with Theater Kapow for her third time after being seen in Shipwrecked and Story Knife. Credits with Idaho Shakespeare Festival/Great Lakes Theater include Les Miserables, Merry Wives of Windsor, King Lear and The Comedy of Errors (Shakespearience 2015). Katie is a graduate of The New York Conservatory for the Arts and was an original company member of the Roschman Dance Company. NY credits include Spike Heels, Wet: Shakespeare, The Art of Dining, and the independent film, Nothing Phases Me. Regional roles include the Mute in The Fantasticks as well as the title role in Aladdin, An Original Pantomime at the Winnipesaukee Playhouse, Meg in Little Women, Tracy Lord in The Philadelphia Story, Nancy D. in A New Brain, and Val in A Chorus Line. Katie teaches ballet and musical theatre styles of dance throughout the New England area, as well as choreographing for various colleges, theatre companies and high school companies.

Victoria Vinson (Maid/Melantho) is excited to be performing with tKAPOW again after first having appeared with them in As it is in Heaven as Fanny. Throughout high school, she performed in and directed numerous shows with Pinkerton Players and Kids Coop Theatre. Some of her favorite credits include: The Diary of Anne Frankas Anne Frank, The Little Prince as the little prince, James and the Giant Peach as music director, The Laramie Project as Romaine Patterson/Leigh Fondakowski/Aaron Kreifels, Madagascar as Director, and The Amish Project as America. Last year she attended the Broadway teacher workshop in NYC to study under many respected artists in different techniques and methods. Outside of theatre, she works in micro electronics, as well as dabbling in graphic design.

Matt Cahoon (Director) is a tKAPOW co-founder and has directed many productions for the company including: Agamemnon, A Dream Play, Buried Child, Time Stands Still and the February 2014 production of Penelope which won three NH Theatre Awards including Best Director. Matt directed Accidental Death of an Anarchist and Israel Potter at the Winnipesaukee Playhouse. He currently serves on the boards of the Arts Presenters of Northern New England and the Greater Derry Arts Council. Matt’s theatre training includes work with Double Edge Theatre Company, SITI Company, the New England Center for Circus Arts, and Range of Motion Arts. In 2013, Matt attended the International Symposium for Directors at LaMaMa Umbria in Spoleto, Italy. As his “day job” Matt serves as the Director of Cultural Programming at Pinkerton Academy. In 2011, Matt was named to the New Hampshire Union Leader’s “40 Under Forty” program.  

Lorraine Chapman (Choreographer) danced professionally with Eliot Feld Ballets/NY and Ballet British Columbia as well as for several Boston-based choreographers including Amy Spencer, Richard Colton, Diane Arvanites, Jose Mateo, and Marcus Schulkind. As a choreographer Chapman has received several grants and has created works for numerous venues, festivals and companies including On The Boards-Northwest New Works, The Yard, World Music/CRASHarts, Dancing Nor’easters-Arts & Ideas, Alberta Ballet, Summer Stages Dance, Festival Ballet of Providence, SOAKING WET, Stonington Opera House, Jacob’s Pillow Dance Inside/Out, Yes, Virginia – Dance, Flynn Center Performing Arts, The Dance Complex, Boston Center for the Arts, Boston Conservatory at Berklee, Canterbury Shaker Village, Dixon Place, and Citigroup Theater Alvin Ailey. She officially formed LCTC in 2002, which is now one of Boston’s most notable contemporary dance companies (lorrainechapman.org). LCTC was represented by Pentacle — a NYC-based management support organization 2013–2016. Chapman’s awards include a New England States Touring (NEST) Grant from the New England Foundation for the Arts (NEFA), a Live Arts Boston (LAB) Grant from The Boston Foundation (TBF), Boston Dance Alliance Rehearsal & Retreat Fellowship, a Brother Thomas Fellowship from TBF, a Boston Center for the Arts Dance Residency and a Summer Stages Dance/Baryshnikov Arts Center Residency as well as being featured in Dance Magazine as one of “25 To Watch”. She received her training at the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School and L’Ecole Superieure De Danse Du Quebec as well as from Boston veterans Frances Kotelly and Samuel Kurkjian. She teaches at the Boston Arts Academy, Urbanity Dance, and the Ballet Arts Centre of Winchester where she is the Co-Director of their PreProfessional Dance Division. Recently Lorraine was the Dance Artist-In-Residence for the Arts Alliance of Northern New Hampshire and Plymouth State University. Her current projects include a collaboration with choreographer Alissa Cardone, choreographer and videographer Nell Breyer, and experimental theater director David R. Gammons (LAND Collective) as well as co-founding and forming Interdisciplinary Performing Arts Center, LCA with Lucy Warren-Whitman (ipacenter.info). IPAC is Boston’s first performing and visual arts cooperative and will officially be opening its doors in Dorchester, MA in 2019.

Jake Hudgins (Composer) made his compositional debut at the age of four, deftly leading his extended family through an improvised symphony for cutlery and cookware. He has since moved on to real instruments. Jake is a recent graduate of Boston University’s College of Fine Arts and is currently pursuing his master’s degree in Music Education. Notable career achievements include eating guacamole with Ben Folds while listening to Dancing Queen. Jake’s first foray into writing musical theater, Happenstance, was performed in April at Sacred Heart University under the supervision of Be More Chill producer Jerry Goehring. Jake enjoys performing with his band Fourth Degree, going out to breakfast, playing games of all sorts, and savoring the Golden Age of Boston sports.

Heidi Krantz (Assistant Director) has been on the directing team for a number of shows including music directing for KCT’s Madagascar Jr. and assistant directing at KCT, Pinkerton Academy, Hood Middle School, and now tKAPOW. She has also been in a myriad of shows and is an NHETG award winning actress. She’s beyond excited to have been invited to this company and to be apart of such a beautiful production. She will soon be leaving to join the Americorps NCCC but soon after she returns, she plans on jumping right back into theatre.

Tayva Young (Lighting Designer) discovered the joy of bringing stories to life with light more than 20 years ago. After pursuing this joy across the country she finally landed back on the East Coast, then took a hiatus from theatre and began to raise a family. It is here that she met a wonderfully talented theatric family and began to join them in the art of storytelling on stage. Now in her 5th season with tKAPOW, she is excited to be working alongside them once again as they bring to life stories of humanity. Tayva won the 2015 NH Theatre Award for Best Lighting Design for her work on tKAPOW’s Time Stands Still.
